In 2017, I founded the science podcast and website Hashtag Science with my good friend and snake biologist Matt Metcalf (FGCU & USGS). We wanted an excuse to catch up after some years apart, so we created Hashtag Science with the goal of developing our science communication skills. In the show, we discussed current research from all fields of science, including biology, chemistry, medicine, engineering, and physics, to broaden both our knowledge, and inform the general public in an interesting and hopefully comedic way. We also brought on guests to talk about their fields (examples include zoological education, genetic counseling, and aquatic ecology). We unfortunately needed to take a hiatus in 2018 due to our availabilities in our graduate school careers, which has turned into an indefinite hiatus.
